Carpet Installation in Houston
Soft, quiet floors for bedrooms, living rooms and game rooms. We help you pick a carpet and pad that suit how you live, then stretch it properly so it stays flat. We also plan the work around your calendar, before guests arrive or summer heat sets in.

When New Carpet Is the Right Call
Carpet is still the warmest, quietest choice for the rooms where you rest. It softens footsteps upstairs, takes the chill off a slab floor on winter mornings and gives kids a comfortable place to sit. If your current carpet is worn, stained or rippling, replacing it often changes how a room feels more than fresh paint does.
A good carpet job depends on more than the carpet you pick. The pad underneath, the condition of the floor below it and how tightly it is stretched decide whether it looks good for years or starts to wrinkle after one humid summer. We take care of all of that, so you only have to choose the color and texture you love.
Timing matters too. Many of our neighbors schedule carpet before the holidays, before a new baby, or ahead of the months when the house is closed up and the air conditioning runs nonstop. We help you pick a window that fits, and we tell you plainly what to expect on the day.
What Your Carpet Installation Includes
- Measuring and seam planning
- Carpet comes in rolls about 12 feet wide, so we measure every room and map where seams will fall. We keep them out of doorways and main walking paths whenever the layout allows.
- Tear-out and haul-away
- Your worn carpet, the cushion beneath it and every last staple come up and leave with our crew. Nothing gets left at the curb for you to deal with.
- Floor check and tack strip
- Once the floor is bare, we look for cracks, high spots, moisture and loose or rusted tack strip. We replace strip where it will not hold and tell you about anything else before we go further.
- The right pad for the room
- We match the pad to the carpet and how the room is used. On concrete slabs we can suggest a pad with a moisture barrier, which helps keep spills from soaking down and odors from lingering.
- Power stretching and clean edges
- We stretch carpet with a power stretcher instead of relying on a knee kicker alone. That tension is what keeps ripples from forming when humidity rises. Edges are tucked neatly at the baseboard, with proper transitions where carpet meets tile or wood.
- Furniture help and cleanup
- We can move standard furniture out and back in, then vacuum and clear away scraps before we leave.
Signs Your Carpet Is Ready to Be Replaced
Waves that keep returning
If a ridge in the carpet shows up again a week after you flatten it, the carpet was likely loose from the start or the cushion underneath has worn down. Either way, it is easy to catch a toe on.
Matted traffic lanes
When hallways and the path to the couch stay flat and gray after a deep cleaning, the fibers are worn out.
Smells that will not leave
Pet accidents and spills can soak into the pad and the slab beneath. If odors return in damp weather, cleaning the surface will not fix it.
Crumbling or flattened pad
If the floor feels hard underfoot or you hear crunching, the pad has given out and is no longer protecting the carpet.
More dust and allergy trouble
Old carpet holds onto dust and dander even after vacuuming. Many families notice they feel better after fresh carpet and pad go in.
How Your Carpet Installation Goes
- 1
A phone conversation first
You tell us which rooms, how you use them and when you would like the work done. We set up a time to come measure.
- 2
Measuring and choosing materials
We measure each room, look at the existing floor and talk through carpet styles and pad options. You get a clear quote that shows what is included.
- 3
Preparing the room
On install day we move furniture if you have asked us to, remove the old carpet and pad and check the floor underneath. Any surprises get explained to you before we continue.
- 4
Laying and stretching
We put down the pad, seam the carpet where we planned, power stretch it wall to wall and trim it clean at the edges. A few bedrooms usually wrap up before evening, while a whole floor or a set of stairs can run longer.
- 5
A final look together
Before we leave, you and our crew go room by room so you can see the seams and edges for yourself. Then we set furniture back, vacuum and take every scrap with us. If a door now drags on the thicker carpet, we point it out and talk through the fix with you.

What Affects the Cost of New Carpet
Every carpet quote comes down to the rooms, the materials and what has to happen before the new carpet goes down. We walk you through each piece on the phone and again at the measure, so you know where your money is going before any work starts.
- Room size and shape
- Bigger rooms need more carpet, but odd shapes and wide rooms can also add waste because of the roll width. Closets and hallways take extra cutting time.
- Carpet and pad choice
- Fiber type, density and style all change the price, and so does the pad. A thicker or moisture-barrier pad costs more but often helps carpet last longer.
- Removing what is there now
- Pulling up carpet is straightforward. Removing glued-down flooring or old tile underneath takes more labor.
- Floor repairs
- Cracks, high spots or water stains in the slab may need attention before carpet goes in.
- Stairs and furniture
- Each step is wrapped and fitted by hand, so stairs add time. Moving heavy or numerous pieces of furniture can add to the job as well.
Carpet Installation Questions

How long does carpet installation take?
Most installs of a few bedrooms or a living area finish in one day. Larger homes, stairs or floor repairs can stretch it into a second day. We give you a realistic timeline when we measure.
Is there a best time of year to replace carpet in Houston?
Carpet can go in any time of year, but many people like to finish before the holidays or before summer, when windows stay closed and the air conditioning runs constantly. Planning ahead lets you pick the day that works for you instead of waiting for an opening.
Do I need to empty the rooms before you come?
Please clear out small items, breakables, closet floors and anything under the beds. We can move standard furniture if you let us know ahead of time. Electronics are best disconnected by you before we arrive.
Will the new carpet have a smell?
New carpet and pad can have a mild odor for a day or two. Running fans and the air conditioning, or opening windows when the weather allows, helps it fade quickly.
Can carpet go directly over a concrete slab?
Yes. We install tack strip into the slab and lay a pad over it. If your slab tends to feel damp, we can suggest a pad with a moisture barrier to help protect the carpet.
Do you install carpet on stairs?
Yes, we fit carpet to stairs as part of the job. If you are considering a different look for your steps, our stair flooring page covers other options.
